LITHIUM BATTERY CONVERSIONS
Build a battery bank for the way you travel.
A lithium conversion can provide more usable energy, faster charging, lower weight, and steadier voltage—but only when the batteries, chargers, wiring, protection, and operating conditions are designed as one system.
BEYOND A BATTERY SWAP
A safe conversion starts with compatibility.
Lead-acid and lithium batteries behave differently. We review every charging source and major load, then determine what should remain, what must change, and what protection the new bank requires.
BATTERY BANK
Capacity & configuration
We size capacity around realistic daily energy use, desired reserve, available space, and weight distribution.
CHARGING
Converter and shore charging
Existing chargers are checked for lithium compatibility, suitable voltage profiles, and the bank’s charging limits.
DRIVING
Alternator protection
Where required, controlled DC-to-DC charging helps protect the alternator and lithium bank from overload.
SOLAR
Solar integration
Controllers, settings, array capacity, and wiring are reviewed so solar charging supports the new bank correctly.
SAFETY
Protection & isolation
Fuses, disconnects, busbars, cables, grounding, secure mounting, and battery-management requirements are addressed.
MONITORING
Know what remains
A properly configured shunt or compatible monitor gives a clearer picture of state of charge and energy use.
Cold-weather note: many lithium batteries have charging-temperature limitations. Battery specifications, internal heating or protection, and the RV’s environment must be considered before installation.
POSSIBLE ADVANTAGES
More of your stored energy is available to use.
The right lithium system can make boondocking easier and reduce generator time, but actual results depend on bank size, appliances, charging sources, weather, and travel habits.
01
More usable capacity
A properly designed lithium bank can provide a larger usable portion of its rated capacity than a traditional lead-acid bank.
02
Faster charging potential
Compatible charging equipment can often replenish lithium batteries more quickly.
03
Lower weight
Lithium may reduce battery-bank weight for a comparable amount of usable energy.
04
Stable power delivery
Voltage remains more consistent through much of the discharge range, supporting compatible inverter loads.
